Blue Pyrenees Estate

Blue Pyrenees estate was established in 1963 by the French company, remy Martin, and was the pioneering winery of the Pyrenees wine region. The chosen site offered a temperate climate, a variety of contrasting slopes and gravelly soils, which reminded the French of the gravels of Bordeaux.

Although the winery is now 100 per cent Australian-owned, Blue Pyrenees estate still celebrates its French influence, and focuses on achieving concentration and richness of flavour in all of its wines. Best known for elegant red and methode traditionelle sparkling wines, Blue Pyrenees estate produces a range of varietals, including shiraz, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc, alongside its exlusive cellar door releases of viognier, pinot noir and malbec.

The estate, which is nestled in the Pyrenees foothills, is a natural paradise. sitting on top of a hill by the winery, the cellar door offers a tranquil setting for visitors to enjoy share plates of local produce, matched with the best of Blue Pyrenees estate’s wines. Picnic and barbecue facilities can also be enjoyed during the warmer months.

Tasting Notes

2015 Champ Blend Blanc

In a regional first, the winemakers at Blue Pyrenees estate combined viognier with marsanne and rous- sane to create this bright, golden green coloured wine. Translated from French to “field blend white”, Champ Blend Blanc delivers fleshy apricot and nectarine flavours. It’s also dusted with spices and is excep- tionally rich in texture.

2013 Estate

Deep ruby red in colour and featuring hues of purple, this wine provides a generous mouthful of mulberry fruit up front, and is complemented by mature flavours of tobacco leaves, mushroom and cedar oak. The wine can be enjoyed now or cellared for 20 years.
