Wimmera Hills

Wimmera Hills Winery was established in 1997 and specialises in shiraz. Jane and Benjamin Baker moved from Fitzroy to the beautiful folded valleys of the the Pyrenees ranges with the dream to grow grapes and make wine. Benjamin, the winemaker, enjoys making delicious and easy to drink wines with silky smooth tannins. The winery includes mountain bike tracks that wander over the hills and adjoins the Pyrenees State Forest. There is also a self-contained cottage for guests to enjoy, which has beautiful views of the Glenpatrick valley. The Wimmera Hills Wine Club offers club members a seasonal selection of wine and gourmet produce boxes, as well as great discounts and new releases. The Bakers believe that wine is best judged and chosen by the very people who are going to drink it.

Tasting Notes

2013 Dedication Shiraz

Rich, dark berry aromas are immediately followed by mild, nutty bouquets from being matured in American oak. This wine has an earthy mouth feel with well- balanced acid. Finished with fresh juice and secondary berry flavours, the wine will age well and can be cellared for 18 years.

2008 Pobblebonk Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz

During fermentation, bunches of grapes are left intact on the stalk, which provides a flavoursome and grassy green note. This wine has a fruity nose with a lovely complex flavour spectrum. Pobblebonk is the name of the large frog that is common in Wimmera Hills Winery's valley.
