Mandurang Valley

Beginning as a hobby farm, Wes and Pamela Vine first planted their vines in 1976. The couple shared a passionate interest in wine and winemaking, and went on to produce their first vintage in 1980.

Their wine was originally produced for personal consumption; however they acquired a limited license in 1992 to sell excess stock. The couple was amazed when they sold all of their stock in one day! This set the Vines on the path to producing the award winning wines they make now.

Mandurang Valley Wines became a commercial venture in 1995, and their vintage has increased every year since.

When Wes and Pamela’s son Steve, along with his wife Jacqui, developed a two hectare vineyard five minutes from the winery, Mandurang Valley Wines truly became a family run business.

Both Steve and Jacqui take on active roles within the business, with Steve a viticulturist and emerging winemaker and Jacqui working at the cellar door, and the pair complete the family team at Mandurang Valley Wines.

The cellar door at Mandurang Valley Wines offers a delightful selection of café-style meals prepared on-site by Pamela. You can share the delights of a regional tasting plate, gourmet cheese plates, one of Pamela’s homemade soups, a frittata while you sip their wines or their cakes with tea or espresso coffee.

Located less than two hours from Melbourne, the cellar door is open from 11:00am until 5:00pm on weekends and public holidays and by appointment all other times. With their picturesque gardens and lawns, Mandurang Valley Wines offer a sweet escape to all.

TASTING NOTES

2011 Mandurang Valley Shiraz

A ruby-to-purple hued wine with a vibrant nose of cranberry and ripe red cherry, with a hint of cedary oak. The palate displays integrated acid and fine tannins supporting a medium-body weight with juicy plum, green olive and tobacco. A Rhône Valley style, which is drinking well now and will age for at least a decade.

2013 Mandurang Valley Riesling

This wine has a nose of lemon sherbet, orange blossom and lime zest. Beautiful white pear and green apple on the palate. The feature of the wine is its crisp forward acidity. Can be consumed now or take advantage of its excellent ageing potential.

2013 Mandurang Valley GSM

This wine is bright ruby-to-purple in colour, showing spicy fruit on the nose and palate. Enjoy overtones of raspberries and black cherries, with added complexity provided by twelve months in French and American oak. It has a soft, supple palate with excellent balance.

2015 Mandurang Valley Sauvignon Blanc

With pineapple, kiwi and lychee on the nose, this wine is supported with racey acidity on the palate, hints of lime sherbet, green capsicum and preserved lemon. A very appealing wine.
